The history of Qingdao Foreign Affairs Service Vocational School can be tracked back to 1927 when it was founded by Guanxian Road Young Men's Christian Association as “YMCA Night School”. After that, the school moved to No.9 on Zhejiang Road and then suspended after the July 7th Incident. The school reestablished in 1946 named “Continuation School Affiliated to Qingdao YMCA" and was renamed as “Qingdao Private Youth Junior Middle School” attaching to Qingdao Education Bureau and YMCA at the time. In 1986, the school began to focus on the development of vocational education and finally got the name “Qingdao Foreign Affairs Service Vocational School” in 1999. As the suspending of Qingdao Yide Experimental School, which was originally founded in 1916 as “Qingdao Private Elite College” by Japanese Geely Heijiro located in No.8 of the Guantao Road and was renamed as “Qingdao Yide Experimental School” with the approval of Qingdao Education Bureau in May 2002, the campus was entirely amalgamated to the management of Qingdao Foreign Affairs Service Vocational School.
At present, the two campuses cover an area of 20 acres and the school has a full-time enrollment of 2003 students as well as a teaching faculty and staff of 162. The school has been deemed as National Key Vocational School, Teaching Demonstration School of Shandong Province, Ten Red Flag School for Qingdao Education Reform, Excellent-grade school of the Qingdao Vocational Educational Evaluation, Excellent Unit in Vocaitonal and Moral Education. It is also the Test and Training Center for Customs Level Examination, the Vice President Unit of Shandong Customs Association and Executive Director Unit of Qingdao Tourism Association.
The school teaches a wide range of ten majors related to customs business and tourism service, among which four of the majors including airline service have been identified as Municipal Key Majors, and customs clearance has been conferred the title of “Qingdao Famous Brand”. As the International Business and customs, tourism services and management have been cited as the Provincial Teaching and Reforming Experimental Major, the school became the leading member for the writing of airline service teaching and mentoring program. In 2014, the school established strategic cooperation with China Youth International Company and set up the titled class of “International Cruise Service Crew”, in order to reserve talents for Qingdao cruise economy in the near future.

Following the school-running concept of “Perfect every detail， Help others to achieve self-development”, the school has a group of outstanding teachers with bachelor degree or above, among which 42 teachers have got master degree.
The qualification exam passing rate of customs and inspection declarers, tourist guide, logistic operator and Japanese are far ahead of the national average. The eligible rate for the National Computer Rank Examination is among the highest in Qingdao.
In recent years, the school has been ranking the first among all the municipal vocational schools with the highest passing rate of tourism skill examination and entrance examination for higher vocational college. Furthermore, many of the students have been awarded the first prize in the skill competition for vocational students in Qingdao.
In 2014, there are 83 students being enrolled as undergraduate students including 17 students who ranked among the top 20 of business and commerce. Meanwhile, 152 students have been gained an early admission and 19 of them have earned the headmaster’s recommendation of Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational School.

As the school has traditional distinct features in moral and etiquette education, the ceremonial team undertook the reception task in some important activities for many years, including Olympic Games, National Games, Tourism Minister Meeting of China, Japan and ROK, Swimming and Diving World Championship, Navy Forum of Western Pacific, which provided the students with a broader platform for self-education and self-improvement. In July 2014, the school has successfully held the Qingdao Division’s selection of the Tenth China-ASEAN Etiquette Contest and the school team entered the finals.

The school is the cradle of customs declarations and business talents, the base of developing aviation and foreign affairs talents. There are more than 200 high quality internships and employment bases. The school has signed ‘sister school agreements’ with Busan University of Foreign Languages, South Korea Jeju International University, Zhongjing Japanese High School, Kyoto Seizan College, and Japanese Cangfu High School, etc.
Cambridge English program was brought in 2012, and Korean, Japanese pre-study classes were added to the school in 2013, and the school has 7-8 foreign experts all year round. The school established a broad platform in recruiting teachers and arranging the curricula and majors, to provide students that want to studyabroad with more options and autonomy.
